They were good. Whole family loved it. While in philadelphia, we wanted to try famous philly cheese steak and this place served that authentic taste. Service was quick. Would drop by again.

One of best cheese steaks I've had. The fries are above average. But the hidden gem is the bacon Bleu cheeseburger. Then for dessert, step next door to Happy Ever After.

I'm no local, so I don't want to delve into the debate of where to find the "best" cheese steak, but I can definitely say that I was blown away by by the Classic. Will definitely be going back next time I'm in town. Super friendly staff, great food at an great price.

Despite being apologized to for the long wait and given a small discount (their electronic system was down) the food came very fast with a very short wait. The meal was hot and delicious and the portions were perfect for a full stomach. While it may seem slightly expensive, the quality and taste definitely justify it. 5/5

Great cheesesteak, but very light on the cheese. Maybe the staff on that particular night was feeling stingy, but the sandwiches we got (all three) had hardly any cheese wiz on them. The majority of the meat in the sandwiches was not touching any cheese. Of course you're always welcome to purchase more cheese for a dollar...Overall the place is pretty casual, and the food is good. May go again.

I go to Philly on business frequently; I was looking fwd to a great cheese steak. Sonny's was the closest to my hotel and the reviews were good and Sonny’s did not disappoint!!! I keep going back and I have not tried another place yet. On the way home I grab 4 ribeye to go back home.

My meal was amazing! The staff is so friendly. It was my first cheesesteak and really hit the spot. Try the onion rings, you won’t be disappointed. Remember to tip the awesome staff!

My friends in New York said, "Make sure you get a good CHEESESTEAK when you go to Philly." Sonny's is on point! Delicious and great service too. Here's the itinerary: 1. National Constitution Museum. 2. Liberty Bell. 3. Independence Hall. 4. Sonny's Famous Steaks. Thanks Philadelphia!

Loved the place. It was reasonably priced and the staff was very friendly. The food was also very good. If you are visiting Independence Hall and the like I highly recommend taking the short walk to this place.

This place seems like the essence of a Philly cheese steak place. First off the cheese whiz version is amazing. The place isn't classy, but you don't eat a cheese steak in a fancy place. It does capture some sort of fundamental piece of Americana. I like it. When I come back Ill eat here again. Im sold.

The lady that took my order was nice. The only thing I didn’t like was the prices were a bit high compared to the quality of cheese steak. I got the loaded cheese steak for $12. I didn’t see any onion, maybe two mushrooms, and a few bell peppers. I wouldn’t really call that loaded and surely wasn’t worth what I paid. I went around 10:30pm, it was nice that it was close to where I was staying and open late. The security guy did get in an argument with customer, which was slightly entertaining. If your not a local, they are also good at making you not feel welcome.

Overall quality just wasn’t my favorite personally in addition the atmosphere is run down and smells like bleach closer to the bathroom in the rear tables. Bathroom smells while eating cause me to rate this lower than I would normally do as the experience was average. I will say however the staff were nice and service was smooth.

Good tasty stop for lunch. They have grilled cheese for non meat option. Beef was tasty and tender and it all came out quickly. Would have gone to Max's but concierge said the line is long. This was a great choice!

We were looking for the traditional cheese steaks @ Philadelphia and stopped by this crowded place. We thought that if the line was not stopping, it should be good. We were just right! Delicious ribeye, juicy and well sliced, melted provolone cheese, onions, pickles, crunchy fries and the people keeps coming. Fortunately, we were able to catch a seat and enjoy the full version of this little and cozy place

Excellent cheesesteak sandwiches if you’re looking for something local to Old City. Obviously, the Wiz With is amazing, and fries are surprisingly good, too. Lines can get long on some days (especially weekends), but they move extremely quick. Anytime I’m craving a cheesesteak, this place is a great option.

This is the first cheesesteak I've had in Philly that actually has texture that is not ground beef. Simply amazing!

We had a 12 hour layover in Philadelphia and we wanted to try a classic Philly cheese stake. The place was open super late for us and the service is fast! The food was sooo good and made a person who was up for 24 hours very happy

The steak is amazing. Extremely flavorful. I had to get it twice while our in Philly. Not to mention Christina (I hope that’s how you spell it) she was a doll! Friendly and welcoming. Definitely will be back on my next trip 🙂

First-ever cheesesteak in Philly. Ingredients were fresh and the food came out unbelievably fast. Fries and onion rings were also really good, super flavorful and crispy. Really appreciated the customer service here. The guy taking the orders was super friendly and this will be my go-to place whenever I visit. Definitely a lot of options, highly recommend you give this place a try!

We stopped by at Sonny's when we first got to Philly. Really hit the spot. Beef was tender and the amount of cheese was generous. This is the classic cheese steak.

Not from Philly so they're are places I haven't tried yet. This wasn't the BEST cheese steak I've ever had, however it WAS the best basic cheese steak I've had. I wasn't absolutely WOW'D by it, but I would eat here again for sure.

When people used to ask me "what's the best food you had in America?"*, my answer would be In-N-Out. Now that I just went to this place I'll have to change my answer. The cheese steak is awesome and the person that took my order was extremely friendly! I'll definitely be going back.(* Not that this is a question people commonly ask.)

By far one of the top cheesesteak sandwiches I’ve had. I went in on New Years Eve at 9 PM and was still able to get comfortable seating and service. Food was ready within 2 minutes surprisingly. AMAZING cheese whiz. Only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the meat was cooler (not cold but not hot) than I wanted it.

Lived up to the hype as one of the best cheese steaks in Philly. They've just reopened and had to wait a long time to order as they seemed to be under staffed but it was worth the wait!

Service was fast and excellent. It’s a good place to get late night bites. The cheesesteak was good, not great. The meat was flavorful and there was a lot of meat, but I wish it had a better meat to cheese ratio. There was a lot of cheese on the top, but not in the middle of the sandwich. If there was more cheese, this would be five stars! The cheese fries were my favorite part. They were shoestring fries covered in bacon and cheese whiz. Loved them!

It is a pretty good Philly Cheesesteak shop. The location is much easier to find than the two old legendary ones. The taste is really good. The only problem might be that it is always over crowded. So just prepare yourself for that.

The food is good! I highly recommend getting the pineapple bacon burger if you are a fan of pineapple, it’s really good!!! The fries are also good. Downside is that the place is extremely small so there is very little seating and almost all of the tables are dirty. I had a hard time finding one that don’t have crumbs and leftover food on it.

Place is not much to look at, but that was a good steak. Go to Jim's Steaks if you want to be insulted and belittled, but the staff here is friendly and efficient.

Visited a few years back and returned this this weekend. My experience was just as great as I remembered. Efficient and friendly staff. Reasonable prices. And some of the best cheesesteaks you can have in Philly. All within walking distance from mos tourist locations. Chicken can be substituted for steak which is great and they also have grilled cheese sandwiches for those who don't eat meat. We actually tired one of each (steak, chicken and grilled cheese) and everything was amazing. Highly recommend. Lines may seem long but it will move fast. Also, there is limited seating inside, so don't count on getting tables for a big crowd on busier days (weekends/holidays).

Was expecting an authentic cheese steak; was disappointed. I buy Rayburn frozen sandwiches from Sam's club that are as good as the example we ate here. The bread was unfavourable and dry which made the sandwich dry. The onions were not plentiful but were tasty. The cheese wiz was sparse. When you can consume this type of sandwich without anything falling out of the bread I feel cheated when I paid almost eleven dollars for the sandwich. The search continues for a really good Philly cheesesteak.

As an out of town visitor looking for a Philly cheese steak, this place was a solid decision. Excellent quality meat, delicious hot fries and friendly service. I made a rookie mistake tho...I got provolone cheese and definitely should have gotten cheese whiz. Don't make my mistake. Get the whiz.

Hubby got the loaded and I got the cheesesteak with onion rings. Cooked perfectly. Delicious, full, Over all great experience. Loved the lady taking orders. Very welcoming and super sweet and helpful. Place is cramped and sometimes first time customers stand in the walkway instead of in the line to look at the menu. My advice, look up the menu before going in or at the very least have an idea of what you want and ask for recommendations. Also, you sit where you find a seat. We (2 of us) sat at a table that a group of 3 was sitting at and the girl it that group looked annoyed at that. This isn’t a finish your food and sit and chat kind of place. Eat and leave.

Every time my husband and I pass through Philly, we have to stop at Sonny's! The service is quick even the line was out of the door but it was/is worth the wait. Out of a few other spots on thia area, Sonny's win hands down! Michelle has great customer service!

Absolutley, great food, service, and atmosphere. Plus only like a 10 min walk to the liberty bell

Yes, two private bathrooms. The one I used was clean and seemed well-maintained.

Only for orders of 50+ cheesesteaks but if you're coming before midnight, on your way over, try calling in your order!

We're looking into a way to do this! Stay tuned...

Yup, not a ton of parking although if you're familiar with the area and depending on time of the day its no different than finding parking anywhere in Philly.

Cash credit or a money order.

Parking is not easy to find. Best bet is to Uber or walk to this location. It is worth the walk.
